Ukrainian activists presented their achievements at the European AIDS Conference in Switzerland

13 november 2019

From November 6 to November 9, 2019, the XVII European AIDS Conference, traditionally organized by the European AIDS Clinical Community (EACS), took place in Basel.

More than 3000 doctors, scientists, activists, representatives of international associations and unions came to the conference to discuss the latest scientific advances and developments in the field of treatment and prevention of HIV infection, as well as the prospects of their introduction into everyday clinical practice.

This year, the conference presented a record number of cases: 744 abstracts, 39 clinical cases, more than 120 international speakers.

Separate sessions of the conference were dedicated to achieving the goals of 90-90-90, Fast-track cities, community engagement, combating stigma and discrimination, and approaches to prevention programs.

Ukrainian activists worthily presented the results of the country’s work in the field of HIV: the implementation of the Food for Life project, a presentation on HIV and migration, the most effective testing modalities, the experience of implementing the Transition Plan from donor to budget financing of HIV response measures.

The organizers were able to prepare not only an interesting scientific program, but also an innovative space where participants could share their experience with other scientists and fellow clinicians.

Reference: The European AIDS Conference is held every two years. It was established in 1991 and is currently chaired by Prof. Jürgen Rockstroh of Germany as President and Dr. Sanjay Bhagani of the United Kingdom as Vice President.
