International communities are increasingly choosing the BAS as the best format for conducting trainings on budget advocacy.
On July 5 – 8 Budget Advocacy School on “Influence of MSM on state and local policy in the field of HIV response” was held in Kyiv.
The training was conducted by the National Resource Center for MSM in the framework of the project “Informing, promoting the health and development of MSM/LGBT community”, implemented by NGO “ALLIANCE.GLOBAL” in partnership with the CO “Light of Hope”, NGO “Institute for Analysis and Advocacy” and with the financial support of All-Ukrainian Network of PLWH and International Renaissance Foundation.
“Today in the context of the formation of civil society, it is extremely important to involve people and participate in the society activities. Not being able to understand the mechanisms for solving problems, we will never solve them. Therefore, it is very important for me to participate in such trainings as Budget Advocacy School,” – noted Ivan Tereshchuk, BAS member.
The participants of the training got acquainted with the peculiarities of the budget process and monitoring, visualization tools, as well as methods of efficient advocacy and media campaigns. BAS experts shared best practices on budget advocacy and efficient communication with public authorities.
“If we want to change local politicians in the direction of our target groups, people need to negotiate, voice problems and most importantly – to show possible solutions to these problems, ready-made solutions,” said Sergei Zhuk, Budget Advocacy School expert, head of the policy and communication department of CO “Light of Hope”.
