On a by-order basis of charitable organizations “Positive Women”, “Renaissance” and “All-Ukrainian Network of PLWH” from April 24 to April 27 Budget Advocacy School experts conducted the 4-day training “Budget advocacy school. Increase of HIV-positive women community capacity” for regional representatives of CO” Positive Women”.
The participants got acquainted with the best cases of Budget Advocacy School experts, learned about main principles and mechanisms of budget advocacy and the NGO participation in normative documents and policy development in the state system.
Particular attention was devoted to tools for monitoring budgets in healthcare, creating of analytical documents and data visualization.
“The idea of Budget Advocacy School appeared in a large group of experts who once thought that it might be very useful for someone to collect all the advances in the field of advocacy and work with the budget in one place. BAS is a consolidating resource center in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. We keep here the best practices, cases, methods and approaches of different specialists from different countries, so that in the future other organizations, using an approved algorithm of actions, would achieve positive results at the local level”, – said Supervisory board chairman of NGO “Institute for Analysis and Advocacy “, BAS expert Yuriy Nestulya.
In the training framework, participants visited the Crisis Center for Women, the “Production and training centre” of CO “Light of Hope”, and also met with local self-government body representatives. BAS experts presented programs of working with women who suffered from domestic violence.
During the 4-day training the participants received a complex of knowledge about the creation and successful implementation of advocacy campaigns. Participants plan to use this experience in advocacy campaigns, promoting the development, mobilization and support of the community of women living with HIV.
“Nowadays I don’t know the best advocacy experts in Ukraine, except for those who created the Budget Advocacy School. I am sure that all the tasks we have planned will be fully implemented. Thus, I’ve got a positive working experience with BAS experts, in particular CO “Light of Hope”. I am very pleased that it is precisely the mechanism of budget advocacy that we use to raise the needs of women living with HIV to a priority level. We are working hard to put these things into reality. This can serve as a good example for other communities that are ready to conduct advocacy campaigns to allocate funds for the countries of Eastern Europe, Asia and the world”, – noted Olena Stryzhak, board head of CO “Positive Women”.
